Room by Room: Bedroom Things to Buy

Bedding, bedding, and more bedding! We have learned a lot about bedding. Here’s what we did initially that didn’t work well for us eventually:

  1. At first, we always tried to tie the duvet cover onto the duvet. It is not necessary to attach them. Who knew!
  2. We initially bought duvet covers that button. Don’t do this! Buy the ones that zip. This seems obvious in hindsight!
  3. We didn’t buy enough at first. Ultimately we have three sets of all the bedding, but this is because sometimes we do our cleaning and sometimes a cleaner does the cleaning. Since our cleaner takes the bedding away and cleans it on their own, you need at least two sets of bedding for quick turnovers. If you have two cleaners, you’ll need three sets.

Bedding

If you have different sizes of bed, get different color sheets and duvets for each size. This will help you and your cleaners know which sheets go with which bed. That being said, white bedding looks really nice and clean. It’s easy to spot hair on white bedding too, making it easier for cleaning.

Throw blanketsThese are really soft at first but definitely get stiff with multiple washings. It’s okay; they’re low cost so we tolerate it!

Other considerations

You may also think about tall standing mirrors or small makeup mirrors. An extra chair or desk area in a room can give people another place to put their things. Items like drapes, rugs, and decorations can contribute to a themed or even just welcoming space!
